For me it was a matter of slowly getting back into this hobby after an extended break to pursuit other interests.I found this place by accident viewing on line pictures of revolvers. One of the best discoveries I can think of.What about you guys, did you hear about it,were you looking for a S&W forum,or did you just stumble upon this place ?

I also have been away from the hobby for a number of years and since i am retired I was interested in the shooting sports and wanted to buy a new pistol. I was overwhelmed at the choices in my lgs. After finding this forum and asking the experts here I now have an abundance of info plus opinions. I am still on the fence about my new purchase, but I know it will definitely happen.

I, too, was away from the shooting sports for quite a while. I regained interest sometime back & bought a M&P 40c. The LGS couldn't answer all my questions & I simply put Smith & Wesson in a search engine to find this Forum. The first time I started lurking I saw some pics of Rag's 4013TSW, & it was all over! I've been mostly into 3rd Gens ever since, & if you look at my post count, compared to how long I've been here, while I'm nowhere near as prolific as a few members here, I believe you can tell I do spend a "little" bit of time here everyday. Love this place!

I have a bit of general gun knowledge and was on a couple non gun forums that had an OT section and we talked gun stuff a bit. Been shooting and a gun person my whole life (over 60 years now)

As I had a bunch of S&W guns I wanted to go where I could pick up more information from knowledgeable people so I popped in here.

PS Laketime, like your screen name!:)

Like you, I found it by accident. And, again like you, I have been away from the hobby for a number of years pursuing other interests. I found the forum when I had way too much time on my hands to browse the net while recuperating from some surgery.

I'm fine now, but decided to join the forum and stick around. I don't post a lot, choosing to lurk mostly, but I check this place nearly every day. It was a great find. :D

Had been away from the shooting sports for awhile due to health issues. Started going to the range regularly, got my concealed carry, and started buying guns again. Researching info regarding possible purchases naturally led me to this site, now its become a daily addiction. This site has led to my increased knowledge, numerous gun buys and lots of enjoyment. My only regret is that I didn't find it sooner.

I was in a huge LV electronics store looking for a new 'mouse'. I had on a hat featuring the silhouette of a S&W 4006 as I had just finished the S&W Armorer's Certification class. A fellow about my age struck up a conversation re my association with Smiths. In the conversation he asked if I was a member of the "S&W Forum". I had never heard of it so he gave me the formal name and I wrote it on my arm in ballpoint pen ink. He warned me to be very courteous because "they" didn't like smart***s that didn't respect "their" knowledge of S&Ws :-). I followed his advice and have been a good student ever since. :-) BTW, that was good advice. I have learned so much here about S&Ws, their history and their possibilities that I am very grateful. ...... Big Cholla

It has always impressed me of the level of expertise the members here have.

Google led me here while I was searching for reloading data. At the time I thought I had every S&W that I wanted.
This forum has been a great source of learning for me but has indirectly cost me a bundle in the process. Apparently I did not have every S&W that I wanted.
Thanks to all who have helped me since I've been a member here.
Steve
