I hear ya, I love the M & P 15 but the ammo was way to expensive to blow 300 at a time on the range so now I have the best of both worlds. One to reach out and touch and one to seriously send rounds down range with and will not break me. I sure hope its as fun to shoot as it looks to be.

Congrats GMC man!

Did your carry handles have integrated top rails to begin with, or did you add them to a standard carry handle? Can you still use the peep sights?

thanks man, I had to buy the adapter rail for them and I can still use my BUIS which is why i went this way plus the front sight doesn't interfere with the scope at all.

I went to the range today and used the white box of Winchester ammo copper clad. Well every other round FTL untill I went and put a box of Winchester Super x thru her and then I only had perhaps 1 in 25 FTL. that was strange.

I am impressed with the rifle overall tho but I do think it may be picky on the ammo lol. Total 22 round count today was 200.

Wow, that's sad to see! I went through over 1,300 rounds last Wednesday (about 4 hours of shooting with my buddy and our other guns).... I didn't have any issues - and it got crazy dirty with all of those rounds. I shot 2 Federal 550 packs and a couple hundred rounds of some really crappy ammo that my buddy brought. I could tell the difference while shooting when both types of ammo were loaded in the magazine - very easy to tell which ones were Federal.... but like I said, I didn't have any failures.

Personally I think its just NGS (new gun syndrome) once its broke in it will probably do better, I did notice the more it shot the better it was feeding.

I probobly have just over 1000k in Mine....

I kinda agree with the NGS myself.........

went out Sunday and Tossed about 400rds and not 1 jam...... and used 5 different Manuf Rds.... (still testing...LOL)

getting SERIOUS now and some 50rd mags and Maybe Slide Fire as well....

then I can do MORE damage...errr... Shooting

:D

Most jams in new 15-22s can be traced to either a failure to clean the firearm and re-lube before the first trip to the range or not following the instructions in the manual as to the proper way to load the 15-22 magazines - or both.

I cleaned it well and lubed with a light coat of gun oil. Just like I did with my M & P 15 before I first shot it. like I said NGS it probably needs to break in a bit.

Welcome to the club GMC man. I see you have good taste in guns and trucks.:D

thanks :) I do like the 15-22 once she's broke in I think she will be my main shooting rifle. :D

.22 LR guns of any type don't like lots of oil. In fact the drier you run it the better it will function. The only cleaning I do is a boresnake through the barrel from the breech, cleaning the breech, bolt face and feed ramp, then lightly oiling the rails the bolt tides on. I will sometimes blow out anything in the lower trigger area and put some of the special grease on the Geissele trigger and that is it. On a real AR you need to do lots more than that but not on a .22.

best $1000.00 i ever spent [after accesories] and still spending, pghrich

The M-16 A1 and A2 did not do well with a lot of oil. I learned to be lite with the oil in the Corps the 16 fired much better and I had fewer problems at the range . I'm doing the same now, if it worked then on full autos it should work just as well on semi autos lol

I believe it. I should be getting my lower receiver from the gun shop after waiting the 7 days in the People's Rebublic of Maryland on Saturday. Then I just have to install the S3G trigger, Ergo F93 stock and grip and the KNS trigger pins then slap the Stag 3G upper on it and take it to the range Sunday. Probably install one of the short rails on the bottom for my bipod for breaking it in and sighting in my 1-6x24 tac scope. May take the 15-22 with me also and put one of my other scopes on instead of my speed steel red dot.

What ya dont spend on ammo youll spend on goodies oh but what fun they are, one of my friends razzed me about it being a .22 being a big bore guy himself he tried mine the silly grin on his face priceless. needless to say he's traded a couple guns he's got one on order now hehehe he bit his tounge off... welcome to the madness

To paraphrase an old TV commercial, This is NOT your daddy's .22! :)
