I watched a little bit of Joe Biden’s Facebook session this morning(I could only stand to watch a few minutes). He again made it clear yesterday that in the eyes of the administration the Second Amendment protects only the right for us to have a gun for self defense and to engage in shooting sports (Nothing really new in that).

If you string together what the administration has said on multiple occasions a clear image emerges. As long as we can own double barrel shotguns and hunting rifles, the Second Amendment is not violated. I did not watch enough to know if he took any position on handguns.

He had to struggle to find a "polite" way of responding to someone who took the position that possession of an AR-15 was protected by the Second Amendment.

If you were thinking the gun issue is dying down or that the administration was moderating its views or giving up, it is not and we can still expect a strong push for federal magazine limits and other restrictions one way or another.

We should not become complacent.

10ring,

About a little of Joe Biden is about anyone should watch, unless you're waiting for him to make another FUNNY and put his foot in his mouth.

I see you're in COLORADO, you need to get busy and try some RECALL ELECTIONS, I see the Anti's have been busy in your state.

Won't be any recalls. The anti-gun reps are from districts that largely support their agenda. No way enough signatures could ever be obtained in the districts with anti-gun representatives.

None of the local bills are law yet and there is still some small hope on a few of them, but at least until the next election the state is run by Obama/Biden supporters.

(By the way...by "Obama/Biden supporters" I am referring to the administration's gun control position, not broader political issues, which are prohibited topics on this forum.)

If I could have asked a question, I would have inquired why, if he advocates shotguns for ownership and defense purposes, we the people were prohibited from buying a Franchi SPAS 12 gauge.

Poor Uncle Joey...America's sycophant; while all the hate?

yeah, blasting away in the dark (not knowing what is your target and what it beyond it) is good advice.

when his .gov paid for protective detail changes over to only double barrel shotguns, then i'll consider his stupid advice.

The V.P. says all anyone needs for defense is a double barrel shotgun. Whether he really believes this or is just being as politician is not too important to me. What is important is that if he can/could, we would be allowed only certain rifles and double barrel shotguns and even those would be regulated.

I wish someone could have responded by asking him how he wold feel if his secret service detail (or his wife's) was reduced to one agent with a double barrel. I suspect the participants and callers were carefully screened.

Really Joe? A 12 gauge double bbl for a woman? Many women I know, not all, would either get knocked down, or get their shoulder injured. I can't find too many reasons to choose a shotgun over a handgun for home defense, but wouldn't a 5 shot 20 gauge pump make a little more sense for a woman?

Many of my friends and Realtor colleagues ask me for advice concerning self defense guns, and I always recommend a medium sized double action revolver, such as the .38 special, for women or beginners... and lots of proper training and practice. Safe, easy, practically idiot proof ... no worries about leaving a round in the chamber or forgetting to activate the safety, no worries about finding the right ammo to cycle without jamming, mild recoil, powerful enough to stop a perp without shooting through the neighbors' homes, etc. My friends and colleagues who have taken this advice have been very satisfied, and feel very well protected.

Really Joe? Send a woman outside if she hears a burglar, murderer, rapist? Instead of staying inside the locked home, calling 911, and grabbing a 6 shooter. Wow, utterly amazing!!

Sounds more like advice for the ex-wife, not the wife.

If I could have asked Joe a question I would have asked him to read to me the sentence in the Constitution that authorizes the federal government to decide what specific firearms a person may use for SD, HD, and/or hunting.

I left a comment on his facebook page. I doubt that he himself will read it, but I'm sure many others do...

Double barrel??? Sounds like Joe's mags will only hold two rounds! Even NY allows 7.

There. I feel better now. But please, folks, try not to mention Joe Biden again.
