Only one gun ya say...
It'd have to do it all, so for that I'd choose this one.

3" 629-2 custom.
I can load it up or down and it's accurate out to 100 yards if I do my part.
Good for social situations, woods duty, concealment, just about anything.
Of the guns I have now, I would have to say it would be my 3 1/2 inch barreled Model 27. If I had a choice of ANY handgun mine or otherwise it would be a 27 with a 5-inch barrel because it would be the perfect compromise between my Model 27 and my Outdoorsman and could fire anything I wanted through it.
nice looking Security Six with some holster wear ...
pick one only
In my opinion the best guns have character marks, emotional attachment and bring a smile to your face when you hold them. Pristine firearms just do not do that for me. I like memory lane when I pick up what amounts to a personal extension of myself. Anyone with money can pay for the best, but memories leave marks.10 feet (boring one hole groups) or 100 yards (see photo) and it's good to go:

(It's a keeper even though it has holster wear, a cylinder line, and the PC grips are not numbered to the gun)
