If you could move to your favorite place in the U.S. where would you go?

"If you could move to your favorite place in the U.S. where would you go?"

I did just that in October of 2020.

I did it in December of 2005. My new house was my biggest Christmas present ever. I always say there are only two ways I'm leaving this house, in a straight jacket or feet first.

I have to agree with Dave from PA. I'm in the city limits of PGH; that will change soon, but I'm not leaving here now. I just want to get out of the city. I'm in a nice 'hood with good neighbors, but PA is a state with decent laws, most in our favor. I'd like to go back to where our camp was in Crawford Co., but I think Butler County is as far North as I'd like to go. I can't get into reasons on here, but Pittsburgh just "ain't cuttin' it" anymore. Lots of nice land within 1/2 hour from here, any direction.

Finding a location with the perfect a balance of all the facets of living is not easy. There always seems to be some aspect of the weather, taxes, access to good healthcare or population density that ends up giving me fits thinking about where to compromise.

Sandpoint, ID.

I'm aching to get out of WA.

THREEDFLYER: I'll be interested to hear where you're headed!

We lived in the Seattle area for 30 years from 1986-2016
On the east side of lake Washington
Big changes there in those 30 years!!

I agree with most of that. I lived on the eastside and in Kent for a combined 29 years.

If moving wasn't such a HUGE hassle, now that the kids are out of school, I'd move about 20-30 miles east to the Post Falls / Coeur d' Alene area. I would have moved there to start with 9 years ago if I hadn't had 2 kids in school (N Idaho schools are pretty poor compared to Spokane's).

We did find a nearly ideal place. 1 acre, 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 car garage, 2600sf house completely refurbed, with a 1200sf insulated and heated shop out back, in a well established no HOA no CC&R neighborhood.

It would take a lot to get me to move again. So I guess I'm already where I want to be - or within 30 miles of it!

While I can certainly understand people wanting to move from this state due to the garbage in charge, I've been here since I was eight (64 now) and other than 8 years in the Air Force, I have called this place my home.

No desire to move at this time.

Call me weird, but I love the sound of all that rain pouring down on my tin roof...zzzzz!

Nothing would make me or my wife leave the kids and grandkids. I like watching the grandkids while the parents go shopping, dinners and cookouts, my daughter stopping by to eat while on duty so the kids can play with the siren, etc. I like the low population and empty roads. I like shopping for everything I need at the local store with old wood plank floors. I like NEVER having to see a title loan store or super center mega store. Nope, never going anywhere.

Mine’s boring. There’s a little town that nobody’s ever heard of near the eastern tip of the Chihuahuan desert in Texas named Christoval.

There’s nothing there of any note except a winery, which is on my family’s old ranch. My family was all around there until the 1960’s when the ranch went away. But it was kept like a park, and the surrounding area is gorgeous.

Anyway, it’s a little piece of the world that still hasn’t been found and made over by developers.

when I retired I really wanted to move to Maine, but they went full on left nut job . so my wife said Florida. I hate it down here...LOATHE to be exact.
now if I could pack everything up and head out today it would be anyplace east of interstate 65 in Alabama

I find it interesting that a couple of folks picked Prescott, AZ. I've been here for around 30 years, and unfortunately it's turned into a suburb of California. All of the things you hear about blue state locusts destroying good places to live are happening here.

We're planning to depart for greener pastures when we retire next year. Haven't decided where yet... Utah, Wyoming and eastern Idaho are all candidates.

One of those "P" towns north of Phoenix. Prescott, Prescott Valley or Payson.

You may have noticed that I currently live in Prescott Valley, AZ

We have been here for 6 years and one month

Six years ago when we moved here was just about perfect timing as far as housing prices and population.......then came COVID!!!

And with half of folks from So-Cal moving here, the traffic, crowds and small town feel has certainly diminished.

On the up side, home prices have skyrocketed and we plan to take advantage of the influx of Cali-Money!!

But after this much time here we have decided that we are just not desert folks and although the sun just about every day of the year is a vast improvement over living outside Seattle, WA......we miss having rivers and lakes.

It's tough to fly fish in a dry creek/river bed......even with a DRY FLY!!!

That said, our house is just about to be listed for sale.....so if you are serious, hit me up!!
