If you could move to your favorite place in the U.S. where would you go?

I have traveled extensively, nationwide and somewhat world wide. I am blessed to be living exactly where I want to spend my final days, on a lake in central Virginia. An hour to the beautiful mountains, and not far to some beautiful ocean sand . Kids far enough away yet close enough that I see them and grand kids often. I am truly blessed.

I moved here to a then quiet peaceful suburb of Austin TX on the greenbelt about 9 years ago after residing in Seoul for 20 years.
They just rezoned the greenbelt to parkland and another section will get an apartment complex built on it.
The deer herd of about 10 has disappeared from the greenbelt.
Every piece of available land seems to have something being built on it to accommodate the large influx to staff the new Tesla plants,Amazon Distribution Centers,2 Apple Campuses,2 Samsung Chip Fabs and Dell.
What is very noticeable is all the cars with BETO stickers. That's the same BETO that said he would confiscate your guns.
I hate to move but where have the Californians not invaded....yet!

Austin should relocate to the SF Bay area. I have yet to see any Beto bumper stickers or yard signs in San Antonio, but I am sure that they will be coming. At least at present, the statewide polls show that Abbott is comfortably ahead of Beto. But it is early in the game. No question Beto will take Travis County.

Was curious where you folks might go if you could move from your current location to a favorite place in the great USofA??

I'd move about 5 miles west of where I am now. That would get me out of the city limits and into a spot in the country where the city limits will not reach until long after I'm gone.

Lots of places in the US I've never been, so I can't say I wouldn't like them better; but of all the places I've been or lived, I like where I am just fine, except for paying double taxes (city and county), and I can't go out back and shoot (inside city limits). I've been here 26 years, have almost 7 acres, lots of room between me and my neighbors; if I could get the city to move, I would.

The Valley of Death

I just got back from visiting Prescott Valley,
AZ again. I use to think it was the perfect
place to live there, but we came out on
the better deal.

We would like a different house. With house
prices sky high, we would profit immensely.
With that being said, there is nothing to
buy and no where to go.

The best to you and your endeavors.

I’m right where I belong here in SW MI on about 60 acres (between two properties). As long as I can pull my travel trailer to northern Michigan every couple weekends I’m good.

The view off my deck ain’t bad ….

Well, I've lived in several of the places listed:

Missoula and Bitterroot Valley of MT, Niarada- ranch West of Flathead Lake, Ruidoso, NM, Prescott, AZ, West Yellowstone, MT, ranch west of Alberton, MT.
We were country folks.

Unbelievably, we've wound up in Sunset Beach, CA taking care of grandpa and grandma. Having the boat sit outside on the dock is nice, but living in Megalopolis is Hell. Nature is real, folks here aren't. Lust and desire seem to rule the world. Materialism is the religion. I gotta get out of here; but not for now, grandma is 97 today.

Looks like the Iron Horse saloon? It has always has been a traffic jam during bike week. Full disclosure, my riding friends and I contributed to that many times, but its been a while.

Yep, that area of US1 from Destination Daytona to Nova Rd has more biker bars than Main Street.

I know Eldorado quite well. Deer hunted there frequently in high school. Never been to Ohio, although I’d visit!

My family lived in Sonora, Menard, San Angelo, Christoval, Ballinger, and Coleman. Christoval saddles the Concho River, and there is a large ranch nearby called Head of the River Ranch. My people were managers of that ranch for many years-they raised world class polo ponies and sold horses to the government, in addition to having their own place.

There are places near there that are like little oasis places in the middle of that desolation. Like others have expressed here, it’s a desire to get back to family. See below for some quick google images. The house is the ranch managers house my family lived in.

I showed this thread to my bride. She said she went to first grade in Christoval. She was born in San Angleo and has property in Knickerbocker. Btw we get a newsletter once or twice a yr from the Christoval Fire dept.

Decisions, decisions, decisions. Oh Yeah, I made one. Got the hXXX out of lefty Colorado and moved to ultra conservative Black Hills. Ain't going nowhere. Good, fishing, hunting, and winter sports.

While I can certainly understand people wanting to move from this state due to the garbage in charge, I've been here since I was eight (64 now) and other than 8 years in the Air Force, I have called this place my home.

No desire to move at this time.

Call me weird, but I love the sound of all that rain pouring down on my tin roof...zzzzz!

TAHUYA! Fun place for offroading. Mostly mild trails, but you can find some tough stuff if you look hard enough for it...

Stay

Hopefully, I won’t seem a braggart. My account of our travels, is merely to explain the amount of travel, my family and I have, been privileged to enjoy. My wife and I have toured all but one State in the continental USA, i.e. New Orleans. For 8 months per year, 1980 to 2012, We toured Florida. East Coast, the Florida Keys, and Key West. Also the Gulf Coast, and it's many cities and Islands. The other 4 months per year, we spent in central Ohio, and toured via, RV, trailer, motorcycle, sidecar-rigs etc.

We’ve toured all but one of Canada’s, Provinces, i.e. Nunavut. Likewise, we've toured Newfoundland’s entire length, and its many attractions, toured the Alkane Highway, start to finish, spent two months touring Alaska, and enjoying its many attractions. Then the British Columbian coast in route, to Oregon, the USA, and home in Ohio.

For many years, from the 1950s to the 1970s, we made yearly trips from our Ohio home to visit friends in the Denver/Golden, Colorado area.

We were, privileged to visit, and tour a large portion of the North American Continent, and spent the rest of our time, on the one-acre lot where we built our home, 67 years ago, and where we still reside today. After much consideration, my most precious memories originated here. Regardless of our nasty, cold, wet, seasons, I believe we're right where we belong.

Love it! My dad went to elementary school there too, in the mid-50’s. It is as small as small town gets. Which I’d be just fine with.
