In Search For The Perfect Grip For J Frame RB

The fancy Wooden grips tore my hand up a few weeks back with a couple hundred +P 38s
I still have the Hogue Bantams but last week bought a used set of Uncle Mikes Combat Grips, Rubber Copies of Craig Spegels & I might just have the perfect J Frame grip, They don't conceal as well as the boot grips but they give the hand a great purchase, Recoil was nothing even with some very Hot +Ps..
I found these grips to be perfect years ago on a M60 that I used to have.. What Goes Around Comes Around..

Here's a set of S&W J Frame grips I picked up at the Knob Creek machine Gun Shoot!
I'm not sure but I believe these were a factory offering?
They have an indexing pin within & are seamless.
Anyone have any info on them?
What would they be worth?? They may be for sale?? The Uncle Mikes Combat fit my hands a little better..
Thanks!!

I finally settled on a pair of very cheap no name fake pearl grips that fit my hand and my Chief Special just fine and don't snag in my pocket.
I got them online somewhere for about $6 a few years ago and I'm keeping them.

Well I just aquired a Pre Lock 342Ti & was looking for The Perfect Grips for it..
I want a covered backstrap & a Short Boot Grip.
After remembering about this thread & the cut down Uncle Mikes Combat Boot Grips I Thought I'd cut a set down & try em..
As I read here before there's metel in them there grips..I cut them with a hack saw & contoured the edges with a file, then cold blued the exposed metal at the bottoms..
I've got two sets of the Factory Dymondwoods but want something a Guy Can use..
These are gonna "DO" Till I can score a set of Crimson Trace LG405s at a "Decent Price"

Gary, congrats on the 342. I passed on a clean pre-lock 342 last weekend that I REALLY wanted. I'm having surgery this thursday and I'm self-employed, so I'm being conservative with funds.

As far as grips go I keep returning to these stags and a T-grip. They just feel right.

Of course I love the look of the Altamonts too.

Good Luck With The Surgery RD..
I understand Perfectly were your coming from..
It Realy Hurts sometimes to see something you've been hunting after & don't have the funds quite available.
Good Call On Your Part Not Getting Into a possition were you put yourself in a pinch..

My NIB 342Ti Came with a pretty set of what I would call Dymondwood Altamonts from the factory & I have another set I aquired from DC7, But wanted something that would cushion the web of my hand from the punishment that the 12oz revolver with +P Rounds will be giving..
BTW I Love the looks of RDs grips with the S&W Emblems..

Just bringing Back an Old thread So That Others who are looking at/for Grips can SEE!!

The 940 & 642 still wear the Spegels & the 342Ti wears the cutdown Uncle Mikes Combats Until I can Afford a set of Crimson Trace LG405s

This setup now doesn't take up any more room in my pocket than my P3AT did. Completely anti-print as well.
There is only one problem with that arrangement, and that is when you draw the gun the holster is supposed to stay in your pocket, but with the modified Uncle Mike's IWB the gun and holster come out together. I carried this way for awhile, but decided it was not safe and went to a real pocket holster that would stay in the pocket when gun needs to be drawn.

It realy matters what type of pants your wearing & how tight they fit..
I don't have any trouble with the Modified UMs IWB/Pocket Holster but with loose fitting pants I would prefer the Kramer..
A Couple of Good Things about the UM Holster are it doesn't wear the fragile finish on some of the aluminum guns & the Holster Weighs alot less than a Leather One..
Here's My AirLite 342 in the UMs & AirWeight 642 in the Kramer, Both Have there Uses..

One thing I liked about the modified UM was it being water proof, having a moisture barrier in the material. And, it weighs only about 1/2 ounce, while the Galco horsehide I replaced it with weighs 2 ounces. But, I do not own a pair of pants or shorts that the modified UM will stay in the pocket while the gun is drawn. For me, they always come out together, which pretty much makes the gun useless.

I have a modified Uncle Mike's body armor holster that looks just like the modified IWB shown. It works great in smaller pockets like 501's.

I almost always wear Tight Fitting jeans & haven't had a problem with the UM holster with this combo but with loose fitting dockers the holster will come out with the revolver just as stiab said, In this instance I use the Heavier & precisely made Kramer Pocket Holster..
Again GOOD LUCK With The Surgery RD..

Agreed!!...this triple combo of magnas, Tyler, and bicycle intertube works great when I carry the Model 60 as backup to my knife.

I use the Crimson Trace LG-405 exclusively on all my J-frame carry guns. It's the most practical concealed-carry grip I've ever tried....small and thin so it won't print; soft rubber on the front and back to help absorb recoil; hard plastic sides for a smooth, snag-free draw; and of course the built-in laser aiming device.

Here's a set on my very first Centennial--a no-dash, +P+ rated 640 purchased 18 years ago this month:

I use Uncle Mike's rubber boot grips on my CCW M-36. I like to keep it compact for concealment purposes. I think .....that's the purpose of a J frame!!!!
