It's Happened Here In New York 01/15/13

What a disgrace, sadly there will probably be no way to overturn this travesty. I would say it's time to get out of that state, freedom has been under attack since the Sullivan Law and now the NY politico's are ready to slap it in the face with a shovel.

Texas, damn right we love our guns in the South.

We still have great gun support from our State in Louisiana, but i do wish we had some laws that Texas has. One law i wish we had was, conceal carry holders do not have to abide by the "no firearms" signs put up by private business owners. Here in Louisiana, u must abide by those signs or "if" the weapon is mistakenly seen or identified, u can have criminal trespassing charges filed against u by the business owner.

Since Gov. O'Malley here in MD is racing Cuomo to the 2016 Democrat Presidential nomination, we're waiting for the hammer to fall here. Unfortunately, this tidal wave of uncontrolled opportunism is taking place at the start of Maryland's 90-day General Assembly session, and in a one-party state like this one, it's all too easy to see where it will lead.

And do we thing it will stop with NY? What will they do when someone uses a bow to do dastardly deeds or a knife etc it happened in China.. Send a message next election.

Hearing this causes sadness that such a thing could be done to law abiding citizens. My question is, I bear hunt in Maine so what kind of ordeal am I looking at driving through New Your to get there? I carry either a bolt action rifle or a lever action rifle and a six shot revolver. In view of this I would carry them in a locked tool box in the bed of my truck but would that bee enough, now?

Haven't read the whole NY SAFE Act yet (working through it now), but it seems that some higher capacity mags will be allowed (grandfathered in) but you will not be able to load more than 7 rounds into the magazine.

Does not New York have a version of the second amendment in their constitution????? If so, this may very well run afoul of it.

Another step towards making that state uninhabitable.
I'm assuming all the murderers and dealers will surely comply.

This needs to be challenged and sent up through the courts ASAP. I'm sure that the NRA will make this a huge priority.

Lets say you have an HK USP40 fullsize and they only make 10 or 13 round mags. Do you have to sell your pistol?

And the criminals are wetting their pants in glee, secure in the knowledge that they now have the law abiding citizens out gunned.

My NYS PL has had a five year renewal since I received it many years ago-nothing new there for me.It varies depending on what part of the state you're in.I would suspect that being slammed with a hefty renewal, like my adjacent county has been doing for years, might be the case with my county in the future.I have a problem with that.Currently the fee is very reasonable, not punitive or essentially a gun tax.
If I understand the new law correctly,I'm fine with owning my existing 10 shot Model 41 magazines....or might need a 3 round plug? How about my eight round Model 27?
I've never felt the need for an assault type rifle or high cap mag.

From what I understand, you will still be able to own magazines with up to a 10 round capacity, but can only load them with 7 rounds. Any magazine with over a 10 round capacity must be sold out of state within 1 year. l am sure all the criminals will comply.

Maybe we should all move to Wyoming or (?) and set up a parameter to keep all the loons out.

If anyone thinks the NY law is the end of it, they're wrong. People like Feinstein here in CA will keep pushing until all you'll be allowed to own is a rock. I am NOT a happy camper.
