My New Critter - 627 Snubby

OK, I have never been a 357 Mag kind of guy.

But a few years ago I was visiting a buddy in another state. He had 2 of the 8 shot 357 Mags with a double shoulder holster.

While we were at the range I shot both of the guns, drawing out of the holsters.

I wore them out to dinner for test purposes, [legal for me to do, I still carried my 1911 as well]...

My closing thoughts are, here you have the reliability of a revolver, with the 8 shots of a 1911, and the power of a 357 Mag [ok it is in a short barrel], but it is not a bad choice...

Especially if you have 2 of them... With a few extra speed loaders or full moon clips.

IF S&W would have made this 8 shot gun, in the Mid 1970's to the early 1980's, they might not have lost nearly all of the Law Enforcement market to the 9mm semi autos...

Here is my first 2 5/8" PC627 along with a 2.5" L-frame (296), 2" K-frame (10), and 2" J-frame (642):

Hmmmm - the N-frame 8-shooter really is a bit bigger than the J-frame!

Love mine, although I have the unfluted cylinder and I think the fluted has a better appearance. My main praise is that even with the short barrel (2.625") and original combat grips, which only accommodate two fingers, it is extremely accurate. I have no problems at 25 yards (single action) and only get slightly tighter groups with my duty Glock or my Performance Center 1911, but it is slight.

Love the action. Do Performance center revolvers come standard with the Wolf spring, or does sending it in for an action job make it even better?

While amateurish, here's a couple of pics of mine: www.pbase.com/dwever
