NY-1 2 INCH ROUND BUTT

I bought that one this morning :)

Spoke with the detective it was issued to on the phone this evening. Really nice dude. Says he hasn't shot it since 1990 because he hates cleaning revolvers. Haha!

Worst part is though... now I'll need a NY-1 2" RB to go with it :(

Jimmy D(demkofour) who listed the gun is a real nice guy too. We did a few gunshop visits together when I lived in NY.
All his det buddies are good to go as well.
Maybe he'll come up with that 2" NY-1.

Jimmy was awesome. Even though he was sick as a dog he made it happen. Good people.

Also, I've bought a good handful of police guns but never thought I'd get a phone call from the detective who it was issued to. That was so cool. He's going to send me an email with some details too so I can use it as provenance when time comes to have it lettered.

These cops who claim to "not be gun guys" probably think we are crazy when we get excited about duty weapons.

That's been my experience. A lot of puzzled looks.

It's funny. As an attorney, I have occasion to talk with small town police officers across North Carolina and have managed to derail dozens of conversation with questions about service pistols, revolvers, etc. No cop with enough time on the job to have carried something other than the latest plastic can avoid the questions. Most are kind and accommodating. Also, I've found that a few of the smaller departments here can give very specific information if you provide a serial number / inventory number, including but not limited to identifying the officer who carried it.

If I was ever to take a DAO revolver into a fight, I wouldn't feel unarmed with my NY-1. As mentioned above, the action is smooth as silk.

I picked up my NY-1 years ago at a local gun shop for like, maybe(?) $150...? It is really a well balanced smooth shooting pistol!
Roy ship dates it to October 1989, and confirms it as a "cop gun".

And thanks for the kind words Mike and Mason- same goes for you two!

Funny thing is, I wasn't even looking for one. I was actually holding out for a LNIB Model 49 to pop up for the right price. When the round butt NY-1 Model 64 popped up for the right price instead I just couldn't say no. I wanted in the club :)

There's a 3" round butt NY-1???!?

@ladder13 that's the only other one I could find. That one appears to have quite a bit more carry wear than mine, and no holster.

Yep...
They are difficult to find...

The book says they made 3" square butt too, however we have it on good authority that none were ever delivered to the NYPD. We dont know if they were really made or not...

Wow! Quite the collection. What are the blued guns? Is that a non shrouded extractor rod?

Found a square butt 4" NY1 on GB last night for $800. The round butt is at $500. Those prices seem backwards, and $500 seems cheap for a minty round butt 4".

This is 64-4 CCH9xxx made in '97 and shipped to Burns Security. It's DAO and has serrated grips straps front & back.

$800 is ridiculous, wait for a much better deal.
