Recall for some Shield EZs

That recall said up to Oct. 31, 2020. I picked mine up and the date code has it made 11-03-2020. I tried to call just to be sure, but everyone in the USA and the rest of the free world must have been calling, too. I'll let it alone. But, at the gun shop, I found a 629-6, 2016 vintage. They took my Ruger GP100, 5", .327 FM Lipsey and $200 and I got the .44 Magnum.

I checked my serial number, it wasn't recalled. Then I became curious enough to go through the stacks of boxes - I bought mine in 2018. I had no idea I'd had it that long. It may be time for the "home" for BB. :o

Looks like we have one to go back. Waiting for information. Quick question: Does anyone know if a non FFL can send a pistol back to S&W with the S&W provided return label through the USPS system or will I need to go the FEDEX/UPS route? Thanks for any info.

The factory will not send you a return label for USPS... it will likely be for FedEx or UPS.

No need to call the website has a form - you enter your serial # and if you need to send it in the form is right there and they email you a pre-printed label. Mine was for FedEx.

You can even use the web site to check the serial # of a gun you are going to purchase. Vendors should be sending back any invloved in the recall.

I bought my daughter both the 380 and 9. The 380 is OK and the 9 has to go back.
Disgusting, but it doesn't just happen to S&W. My Sig P365 had to have the Fire Control Module and something else changed before I could shoot it.

They received mine on Monday. Well see how long it takes then to get it looked at, fixed if necessary and back out the door.

Recall EZ9 with no thumb safety

I just shipped my wife's EZ9 back to S&W this morning, the serial number was one affected by the recall. S&W is paying shipping both ways. Very pleased so far.
We had just purchased it from gunbroker, hadn't had a chance to even fire it.
We have one EZ380 and another EZ9 with thumb safety that were not recalled. Both excellent shooters and very easy to rack.

I sent mine back on Dec 1. I checked the tracking number and they received it on the 3rd. I received an email on the Dec 7 that it was received and being processed. I called today to find out when the 10-day turnaround time starts. She said the day I shipped it. That being said I should get it back by tomorrow, Dec. 10, right? However, Customer service told me the gun is in for repair now and that I'll get an email with the tracking number when it's shipped back out. I'm thinking it won't be back by tomorrow. LOL

The CSR may be wrong.

I sent mine back on November 24th. It would have gotten to S&W on the 26th, but that was Thanksgiving. S&W was closed on the 27th. The 28th and 29th were a weekend with no deliveries. So my return was delivered to S&W on November 30th. I am still waiting to hear from S&W that my gun is being returned.

Here is my timeline so far:

request for label sent 11/23/2020
label rec'd by email 11/24/2020
Dropped at FedEx 11/24/2020
Delivered to S&W 11/30/2020, 8:30 am
S&W sent email acknowledging receipt 12/4/20

Ten business days from when it was in their hands would be 12/11, or 12/14 if you don't count the day they received it. I'll be happy if it is shipped back to me by 12/18, which would be 10 business days from them acknowledging they received it. Of course, sooner would be better. :)

I'm glad I saw this. A friend recently bought a 9EZ at Bass Pro. Yesterday we went to the range to break it in. Nice gun. She's happy with it. When I saw the recall, I texted her the info, and she found out this morning it has to go back. She's bummed, but hopefully the turnaround will be reasonably fast.

I just read the return shipping email which was sent by FedEx 10 minutes ago:

11/24 - shipped to S&W
11/30 - received by S&W
12/10 - shipped to me
12/14 - scheduled delivery

So a 9-day turnaround for the gun in S&W's hands.

12/11 - no email no gun.

I'll wait patiently as I have no other choice.

My EZ came back today:
  • 11/24 - shipped to S&W
  • 11/30 - arrived at S&W
  • 12/10 - shipped to me
  • 12/12 - received
It looks like the gun was inspected and no problem was found. The work order shows 15 categories for "repaired:" or ""replaced:" and nothing is checked.

Did it come back to you or a FFL holder?

Mine came directly back to my house.

Federal law allows the return of a gun to the address from which it was shipped. If the return is NOT to the address from which it was shipped, the gun must go to an FFL. Some states apparently require any returns to go to an FFL.

Oddly enough, the FedEx delivery guy not only did not require my acceptance signature, but refused to allow me to sign, mumbling something about "policy ... COVID ... distance ... touch."
