Recall for some Shield EZs

Looks like we have one to go back. Waiting for information. Quick question: Does anyone know if a non FFL can send a pistol back to S&W with the S&W provided return label through the USPS system or will I need to go the FEDEX/UPS route? Thanks for any info.



I had FedEx pick it up at my house, and I informed the driver that a firearm was in it. I tried dropping it off myself but they were all places where they only had a drop off box (like a mail box) and you can't use those for a firearm. Still waiting for it to be fixed and returned by S&W (it was delivered to them in MA on November 11).
 
They received mine on 12/3 and shipped it back on 12/10 expected to be here 12/14.

Interesting. Yours was shipped back in a week and it took them 8 days just to acknowledge receiving mine. What a difference a day makes.
They received mine on 12/4 and acknowledged receipt on 12/12 indicating that it is "being processed".
 
One word of caution. Keep track of those packages. Not saying it is widespread but thank the Lord I had the app for notifications.
On a return trip one of my “special packages” ended up being delivered to an address 35 miles north of me. I immediately made a claim within the hour and it escalated very quickly. It took 10 days of worry (without any updates) to finally get thru the right channels to get the package back.
If I would have waited one day who knows what might have happened. Plenty of bad characters everywhere it seems.
Impossible that it had been misdelivered.

Another word of warning...
S&W Closes for the week between X-Mas and New Year, so if you haven't already sent yours in, wait until after New Year.
 
EZ9 Recalled

Looks like my EZ 9 is going for a plane ride. Anyone know how long till you get the shipping notice?

If you are talking about the email with the shipping label, they sent mine the day after I requested it.

If you are talking about how long to return it, it varies. I suspect that the folks getting them back already were guns that had nothing wrong and it was just inspect and return.
 
I called yesterday and they told me my gun was in shipping. I still have not received a tracking number that it is on the way back. I'm on day 15 from date shipped.

I would have immediately notified the police in the jurisdiction where it was delivered. Not sure what they would do, but I'd have called.
 
Finally, ship notice due back on Friday the 18th. So 18 days from ship to receipt.

label rec'd by email 11/24/2020
Dropped at FedEx 11/24/2020
Delivered to S&W 11/30/2020, 8:30 am
S&W sent email acknowledging receipt 12/4/20

Well, I got impatient and called them today. They said that it is done and waiting for a label in the shipping department. I asked what had been done and was told the hammer was replaced. The woman I spoke to was very helpful and polite. Continuing to wait . . . . . .

I read about this in Gun Test magazine, they did not rate this model, not just the impacted issue, too well. I hope that it is overblown.
 
I got an email from FedEx about a shipment set to arrive next Monday 12/31 that looks to be the our EZ9. Nothing from S&W about it so far.
 
Mine is back today. Nothing marked at all on the repair order, for all I know not a thing was done to it or even if it was looked at.

Same here. Got mine back yesterday and nothing was marked on the sheet. Glad it's back.
 
I received an email on 12/16 from Smith & Wesson saying that they received my gun. FedEx sent me an email saying my gun will be shipped tomorrow and should arrive 12/22.

Something that nobody has mentioned here. The return shipping requires an adult signature, so make sure somebody grown up is home on the day your gun is supposed to arrive.

Yup. SAW received mine Friday 12/4, then had it 2 full Mon-Fri weeks.
Monday 12/21 I was notified it is coming home tomorrow 12/23.
Guess I don't have anywhere I need to go tomorrow. Don't forget to turn off any cell phone filters in case the driver wants to call you.
