So small the wife and I missed it. Don't know how long it's been up, and we work there :o

Name withheld by request.

I am a staunch supporter of the 2nd no doubt. However, I feel that open carry invites unnecessary attention in most environments. I carry concealed to gain an element of surprise against a would be attacker. Simply my 2 cents.

I could not have said it better myself.

Aww...no biggie. It says, "Kindly refrain from openly carrying a firearm." Doesn't say anything about concealed carry.

Even though I can carry openly in my state, I sure as heck wouldn't want to do so in Walmart of all places. I mean, think about it. Why would anybody want to open carry in a place where there is always a liberal smattering of "different" people walking around the place?

Let's be smart about this. I'm grateful they don't want me to open carry there. Walmart is definitely a place where you want the element of surprise if need be.:)

I find it very interesting how these signs are worded. They are not assertive like a prohibition, but it sounds more like a request for cooperation. Granted, I am not a lawyer, but my take is that management doesn't have the authority to do a single thing to anyone that chooses to not comply with their request. As I read the signage, police are helpless in enforcing the policy. An open-carrier couldn't be removed from the premises or charged with trespassing.

I’ve never liked the idea of announcing my carry status to potential perps, especially in high traffic public areas. Also, my edc is for my protection, not a provocation or a political statement. That said, I think Walmart struck a good, respectful balance between their rights and ours.

I saw the photo in the OP and first thing that popped into my mind was “6 to midnight. When did they stop being open 24/7 ?”

Over 40 years ago I got my Pa. "Licence to Carry" so I didn't have to open carry in Penn's Woods.

Pa. open carry is legal everywhere but Philadelphia. Never understood folks who want to open carry in a urban environment..... despite TV and movies even in the old west open carry in towns was discouraged.

Texas is an open carry state (has been for the last 3 years) yet I have seen no one carrying openly who wasn't some sort of cop. Obviously, the great majority of those who COULD carry openly choose not to do so (me included). Under Texas law, any establishment which wishes to prohibit entry to those carrying either openly or concealed must prominently post notification signs to that effect, worded in official legally-prescribed language, in both English and Spanish. So far, I have not seen such signs at any Wal-Mart or Sam's Club stores in Texas.

Have not seen any of those signs in my area but really have not paid a lot of attention. anyway gonna look more closely on my next trip. I buy most all my groceries at Walmart Neighborhood store. I also use super Walmart at times . We have two super Walmarts and a Neighborhood store all about equa distance from me so it's whichever I decide on at the time.
