What's for dinner?

More details Rudi :)

"Cream of" soups are simple to make. Last night, I made a stock with diced carrots, onion, asparagus and garlic. Boil for 30-40 min. Then throw in more finely diced asparagus and some chicken stock, boil again for 30 min. Then, use an immersion blender to make it soupy. Let cool for 5 min or so. Add 1/2 & 1/2 or cream and serve. Yum!!!

Had a craving plus it was 60 degrees here today! Cheezy brats …..

Pork steak with Fat Boys Rub on the Weber Kettle. Deviled eggs and creamy cole slaw sorry no pics of the slaw and eggs .

My wife and I love pork steaks! Try to get thinner cuts if possible and let em soak in some soy sauce and beer. Add Lawry's and throw in the Traeger for 30 minutes with a couple baked potatoes. Mmmmmm!

With my wife being Catholic, I do my part by making bluegills on Friday nights this time of year. Obviously a big part of the enjoyment is catching them - we then only keep the 7-8" fish, nothing bigger for flavor reasons.

In my honest opinion, this is a top 3 meal all day long. And the comical thing is that there's no fancy plating involved, we gather around the stove with an adult beverage and eat 'em with our fingers. They literally melt in your mouth!

I could make 100 of them and there would be no leftovers.

We call that first fish a shellcracker down here. Think they are red-eared sunfish in some places. The bluegill is the same here as the second fish.

When you get them fried like you did, definitely a top tier meal and I love them. Guess that is why they are also called panfish. Yum. And oh what fun.

Yup, the one my wife is holding I thought was a green sunfish but I could be wrong there. This is an example of one we'd throw back - around 9" plus. The second one is indeed a bluegill of prime eating size.
