What's you favorite S&W revolver Model and Why?

I

To me it has to be the Model 27 because I think it's well made and is the best looking S&W revolver ever made. My second favorite would be the K22/Model 17 series because they are such a joy to shoot and they provide hours of entertainment for a small price in ammo costs. But if I could keep only one it would be a Model 27-2 in 5 inch barrel.

I know everyone has a favorite so tell us what it is and why it's your favorite.

That's easy. Model 27. No, Model 29. No, Model 19. No, Model 10. Ok, maybe it is not that easy. :)

I think the question ought to be, to pick a Favorite-a-Day, for a Month.

Otherwise, for me anyway, I am stumped.

I have too many 'Favorites'! And each one is a Favorite in a different way.

Hard to choose a real favorite but I'd pick between my two CCW's. My Model 37 and 60-15 and when it comes down to it, probably my 37 bought new in 1978.

Hope I never have to pick just one. But if I did it would probably be my plain jane stainless 2 1/8" M-60 .357 with rubber grips, because that's what I usually have with me. Handles and shoots Great.

But, my 6" 586 is a tack driver,, the 29's are just cool, the 625 or the 610 is fast and smooth,, the 3" 25 or the tricked out 1917 are unique , the 2 1/2" 66 is sexy ,, etc. etc.

Don't have a 3 1/2" M27 ,, (yet) they are just flat out beautiful...

Mod 29, .44 Magnum. Saw "Dirty Harry" movie when it first came out and went and bought one just like Harry. Got the same Bianchi shoulder rig too.

$400 for the revolver and sold the rig at a gun show...too many straps and a bear to adjust.

Still got the .44!!!!!

Rather than the magnums and other "elite" models, my favorite has always been the Military and Police model and its model 10/64 descendants.
These revolvers have been doing the business for 113 years now, and continue to do so.
Slick, accurate, affordable and easy to handle, what's not to love?
Have thirteen different variants, and love them all!

28-2 HP

My thoughts are the 28-2 highway patrolman. The action is like glass it is a .357 in an N frame so it is robust:cool:, the old school craftmanship is there, it has a recess cylinder, and who doesn't love the "coke bottle grips". I can shoot mine at 100yds with open sights no problem. It was the S&W that started it all for me :D

Mdl 48. I started handgunning with one, hunted and killed a few whitetails (culling does at feeder blinds, no 200 yd. shots down a sendero), squirrel, coyote and turkey. It also matches my much loved (customized by my father)Marlin mdl.980. Call me a .22magnum kook:o

Looks like the 27's are ahead! Mine in order:

M-27 6"
M-66 6"
M-60 2" stainless 38

Carried a department 28 first in late 70's, then bought the 27 and carried it several years. Evidently I am a bit odd; I prefer the 6" barrel and never had an issue with drawing it using a break front holster.Bought the 66 'cause the price was right! And the 60 made an excellent backup. Wish I had bought more back then at dept. costs! $250 for the 27, $160 for the 66 and $150 for the 60! Those were the days.....

Mod. 66

My 4" Model 66 with Hogue mono-grips that I carried on duty for many years and bought from the town when we went to 10 mm semi-autos.

Model 19's, specifically a 19-4, and preferably before the swapped over to the newer style blueing.

A fairly lightweight K frame that can shoot 357's from several different barrel lenghts. The 19-4 incorporated all the "reliability fixes" to the K frame platform like the change in gas ring, etc but was still P&R.

It's my belief that when properly cared for, the K frame 357's were about indestructible, despite some of them developing forcing cone issues. I think that is mostly caused by lack of maintenance.

I would say a 66-1 would substitute for the 19-4, and may be a tad less maintenance due to the SS finish, but I am a sucker for the old blue guns.

#1. 6" Highway Patrolman; my 1st handgun I bought with paper route money when I was about 13 yrs old. Great shooter!
2. 4" mod 57 .41 mag. If you haven't discovered the joys of shooting an S&W .41; you need to.
3. 5" Mod 27; bought at Boise Gun Co. while riding my BMW GS thru Idaho. Beautiful revolver and shoots fantastic!

If I had to pick one it comes down to 2 revolvers I don't own but I want . One is the 610 I love the 10mm and with the 610 I can shoot 10mm or 40. Plus I love the speed of moon clips. Next choice another N frame the 627 PC . I love the 357 and economical 38spcl plus you can use moon clips and its an 8 shot. I don't know that I can pick one as a favorite. Looks and capacity the 627PC wins. Favorite cartridge the 610 gets the nod.

I'm a big fan of the .44 special and Colt .45. That being said one of my favorites is the S&W Model 696. It's L frame size with 3" full under lug barrel have a great look and feel.
One I shoot each time I go to the range and rotate into my EDC.

Ok gotta ask, Where can I get a set of those grips? They are very cool.
