Black Hills Update
One funny, one very sad!
Yesterday we rode the horses in the morning and took a drive in the afternoon.
Ride went well, saw some pretty country and horses did well, and the only time we got off was when we wanted too!

On the drive in Custer State Park, we ran into road construction, and had to wait bit. One lane open, so it was flagmen and wait. As our side moved forward we got to the opposite flagman and suddenly everything both ways was stopped. Two big bull bison walked down the fresh laid asphalt, nice tracks in the hot asphalt, and got grumpy! The poor flagman was trying to hide behind his sign, and one bull and he kept circling, the sign was slow, stop, slow, stop, and the bull was not paying attention! Everything was at a standstill! A foreman

in a big SxS ATV with bull bars all the way around came driving up, and bumped the bull in the backside, and started moving him away. Sort of like an ant pushing a elephant! Guess this wasn't either the bison or the foreman's first rodeo!!

Things back to normal and traffic moving again, and the roller moving to remove the bison tracks!
When we got back to camp, the host came by with a condolence card ? Another horseman's horse had developed severe sudden laminitus and literally walked out of its rear hoof walls. Two vets came by and explained that there was a possibility of recovery but expensive $$$$$$$ and at least 2 years, and during this time the horse could not travel! No guarantees !!!! The owner made the decision to euthanize! But an interesting aspect to me, near here is Beartown USA. They have large cats and bears, and would pay for the horseflesh to feed their animals! The horse owner agreed! Sad day for him as he had raised the horse since a colt! Owner was from Boone, Iowa, but did not know him.
Animals can be such joy, and such a heartbreak!
Life from the Hills, 52° last night, low 80's today. One thunderstorm passed to the south early this morning, just some rumbles, and a pretty double rainbow !
