We know some of you have some pull with Smith & Wesson. How about pushing for a 4 inch, 10 shot Model 45 .22 Post Office Gun. I think it would be a winner for Smith & Wesson.

Model 19 P&R Nickel

For a minute there I was worried that the value of my nickel-plated Model 19 with pinned barrel and recessed cylinder would be reduced! But their offering is limited, so I'm OK!
And they aren't offering a Model 66 either, I'm happy to say.

I don't see a plug...

The YouTube video does not show a plug, and the pictures on Smith & Wesson's website of the No Lock Model 19 appears to be the same revolver pictured for the lock model and just photoshopped over the lock area. The grain patterns on the stocks of both revolvers look identical. Smith & Wesson would get laughed at if they only plugged the hole.

Lousy quality control rests solely at the feet of modern S&W. For what it's worth after its dead front sight was replaced, my 632-UC has become one of the best S&Ws I've ever had, and one of the only J-frames I actually enjoy shooting for extended periods of time.

I read the Lipsey horror stories, but my 432 UC hasn't had any issues. Like you, it's the first lightweight j that I enjoy shooting. No more busted knuckle when shooting.

I'm not in the market for a new S&W, as I have "originals" of all the new no lock models.

But I will be very curious to check them out when they show up at the LGS.

I think it's a good thing. Hopefully more to come.

I like the big bores, have had 4 500 Mags and now only have 2 which are keepers. The fact that they have the IL doesn't matter to me. Don

Always lamented that the PC 17-8 Heritage wasn't offered in 4" and sans target sights but it's the closest post war offering to the pre war M&P target in .22lr in existence.

On a side note had to chuckle just a little at the reminder " Lock bashing is still banned" in a thread discussing the factories sudden embracing of that very concept by offering three models with it deleted for a small upcharge and the overwhelming support of that effort.

My bet is the timing of its introduction is no coincidence that Shotshow is next week and a new less anti gun govt takes power Monday.
The lock was a concession made during the Clinton era, so was the changes to the Ar15 that Colt did but that was done preemptively to appease the Clinton Assault weapons ban.
It was also not well received by the gun buying public and the reason I purchased a Bushmaster A2 rifle over the bigger name Colt. Apparently I wasn't alone and Colt quickly dumped all the ban stuff, receiver block, cut bolt, larger pin hammer trigger, collet screws , they stop cutting the bayonet lug and flash suppressor threads and Viola people started buying them again.
AFAIK none of the competition drilled their frames and added an internal lock and someone finally caved at SW and said OK enough, my bet is they will spoon feed us iL deleted models while they use up the drilled frames.
Now if they'd only offer a 9mm AR15 clone at the Ar15 M&P Sporter pricepoint that uses the Colt style stick mags with a last round bolt hkd open.

Y'all do realize that this is just a sales gimmick, don't ya?
Ok, they're making a few guns without the lock. But they still have two piece barrels, mim parts, frame mounted firing pins and questionable QC. All the stuff many of us have complained about for years.
Its not like S&W suddenly jumped back 30 years and started making revolvers the old way.
Look at the so-called "Classic" line. They may appear to be like the classic guns, but they sure ain't. Same deal here.
And to all those speculating/ hoping that S&W will expand the "No Lock" line, yeah, good luck with that.
