I have a 32-20 First Model (M&P 1899/1902 internals) that is missing the spring loaded beveled plunger on the cylinder stop that is actuated by the trigger hook.

I've spent the last few days searching on and off for information about these early cylinder stops and have been coming up empty in regards to that specific plunger.

I have a potential donor from another cylinder stop (unfortunately too small for this gun, but the plunger appears to be the same) but have not be able to figure out how it is retained.

Does anyone have, or know where I can find, any information on the plunger? How to remove/replace it, make a new one, etc.

I believe numrich gun parts has the cylinder stop assembly that you’re looking for. It’s listed under the k frame section. As for disassembly others here can help. I’m aware that you need a special tool to compress the trigger return spring.

Disassembly of the gun is not an issue. I have what is presumably the original cylinder stop for the gun, or at least one that fits the cylinder properly. The problem is that it is missing the little plunger that the trigger hook acts on to disengage the stop.

I have a second cylinder stop, that does not have enough material to work properly as a stop, but does have the plunger.

I'm trying to figure out how to remove the little plunger from one to transfer to the other and/or use as a template to make a new one.

Since it appears I've asked a question that near nobody has the answer to, I've spent several days fiddling around with the smaller of the two cylinder stops trying to figure out how the plunger was installed.

I ended up putting them under 10x magnification and noticed that on the back side it appears that a "donut" shaped plug was pressed into a larger hole.

Since neither stop is currently working, I tested that theory - sure enough, a stupidly tiny plug that was inserted and the surrounding material peened over.

I took some measurements while I had them apart.
