In my travels I have come across the following attachment. It is called a dissertation that addressrs Great Britain's need for, use of, and what they used for handguns in World War l.
As we know, they used all of the Smith & Wessons that they could get their hands on, along with almost anything else that they could get, including a number of Spanish made guns of questionable quality.
It is an interesting piece of history that I have never seen spelled out to this degree.
It is always risky to promote an unknown source so I make no claims as to its authenticity or accuracy. Prior to reading this I had never heard of this guy or his writing. I does seem legitimate to me. Lots of references and a full bibliography.
I will post it here so that anyone with an interest can look it over.
