How did you find your way to this forum?

I was researching a S&W revolver I was considering purchasing for off duty carry, when I came across the Forum. It helped rekindle my nostalgia for revolvers, and prompted me to track down the off duty 66-3 snubby I carried when I was a young officer. Fortunately, the friend I sold it to was in the mood for a trade. Since then, I've added a couple of more S&W products. The Forum is a great place to share information and ideas.

First trying to get the mfg date on a Model 36. Then repair info on a post war M&P, then it seemed like every question I Googled brought me here.

So I signed up, and spend too much time here everyday.

I was curious why my 640 no-dash was factory-etched "TESTED FOR +P+". S&W didn't want to talk about it. I had been looking at other, non-brand-specific gun forums. On one, one of the resident gurus flatly told me that I don't have any such thing because no such thing exists. He pretty deftly implied that I was either a greenhorn/idiot or a liar.

I looked in here, found that several thousands of these guns were made, and then got hooked. Especially after checking out the lounge. :D

I was googling info on the Primate display at the Glady's Porter Zoo in Brownsville, when this site came up. :D

Truthfully,I THINK I saw a posting on the US Militaria forums that was about this site. I was on some other gun site at the time, and found it pretty lame and unprofessional--so I quit and joined here.

Researching a potential purchase and just reading with no account I learned stuff. I signed up right after winning the auction on GB. I could tell the forum was run extremely well and as I have seen mentioned numerous times, so many of us recognize much of that is directly related to those who share their knowledge and opinion here.

When, getting close to retirement, I started doing more collecting, and less competing, I did some Google searches and the rest is history. I have established some very good acquaintances and friendships over the years.

My father died last February. He left an incredible collection of firearms and all the associated stuff. After my brother and I each took what we wanted, we were then left with selling nearly 100 firearms for our mother. We did our best to get fair value, and my research kept taking me to threads on this forum. This forum was invaluable in determining the value of the Smith and Wesson revolvers. Eventually, the searching was limited by my failure to be a member, so I joined.

For me it was a matter of slowly getting back into this hobby after an extended break to pursuit other interests.I found this place by accident viewing on line pictures of revolvers. One of the best discoveries I can think of.What about you guys, did you hear about it,were you looking for a S&W forum,or did you just stumble upon this place ?

There was a link in another forum.....

I had just come into possesion of a Smith and Wesson Model 29-3
44 Magnum so I searched for a good Smith and Wesson Forum.
When I found this one I liked what I saw.

I was researching a beat up Triple Lock I paid too much for. Soon fell in love with a Reg Mag, and bought it with my first post.

Hard to believe that was ten years ago this spring...

Back in the "old days" I hung out at a place called Shooters. Smithnut was there and told me about this place. Shooters ceased to exist and I have been here ever since.

max-thanks, saved me from typing it out. Spent most of the time in reloading, then got post count eradicated in reorg.

Thought I saw Smithnut post awhile ago?

I was also on Shooters back in the 90's. I remember JeffOTMG (owns too many guns) and DonOTMW(of too many words), the old cyber campfire and of course, the CTAOHR's.
