All I know is that here in Texas, my new CHL application has now passed the MANDATORY "within 60-days" law limit for "will grant" of my CHL.... So much for laws huh...

Now I don't have to worry if my gun peaks out on occasion while I conceal carry. Baby steps......
You haven't had to worry about that for quite awhile in Texas. Accidentally revealing your carry piece is not criminal in our state. Of course it might freak out a liberal or two.![]()
Be careful Dennis. THIS Texas Liberal loves his guns, so please refrain from the politics.

DPS will make every effort to issue your license within 60 days of receiving the completed application packet. If the application is incomplete or requires additional information to complete the background check, you will be notified in writing.
I just ordered my buscadero belt rig from El Paso Saddlery and 2 nickel plated SSA's from Colt's custom shop. I'm looking for the Hopalong Cassidy look!
Both this State Senate Bill (SB17) and the State HOUSE Bill (HB910) are based on and expand the current CHL laws ("relating to the authority of a person who is licensed to carry a handgun"), so the State would be getting their Tax bucks.If the Texas legislator would add a Open Carry fee (tax) to the bill....
I'm figuring the NEXT step might be the unlicensed carry of anyone who is legally eligible to purchase a handgun
I think of that, this way.Strange that Texas law considers my vehicle to be an extension of my home and then requires me to conceal my handgun in the vehicle but not at home. I've always thought that one was weird.
Of course I'm a lit'l bias on this subject.....I like BBQs and BBQ pistols and fancy rigs.
But what gauds my rear is a feller can't open carry at his neighbors BBQ even if given permission by his neighbor....
From the Texas Penal Code;
PC §46.02. UNLAWFUL CARRYING WEAPONS
. (a) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally,
knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his
or her person a handgun, illegal knife, or club if the person is not:
(1) on the person’s own premises or premises under the person’s control;
.
If I'm wrong....Show me the statute.
.
It's legal if you have a CHL and carry it concealed . . . unless the neighbor asks you not to.
We're one of the largest nations in the world with over 300 million people. (That we know of) Yet, about 30,000 people are killed in automobiles every years. Considering long gun, hand guns and historic relics that can still fire we have to be the most gun responsible people in the world.Ain't that the truth!
I couldn't believe all the whining and crying from gun owners at my Club when Guns in Bars was passed here. It was like they thought that everyone with a carry oermit were going out to get drunk and in get in bar room shootouts. Its been years since and we're doing just fine.
Gun freedoms, particularly carry, have been sweeping across the country for the past 30 years. Gun owners have done just fine despite all the prophets of doom and endless handwringing. Still, each time a new gun freedom comes up the whining and crying starts.
