Who carries a Smith on duty besides me? Let's see it.

These days, we are Sig only for the primary for regular duty, and the 640-1 below (with black Fitz grips) is a handy second.

If we return to a policy allowing several brands, this tack driving 5" 5906 would move from special duty back to regular, and once again accompany the 640-1:

No, I don't carry autos, but on duty I carry a 4 inch Model 686 in my duty holster with a nickeled Model 37 in my left cargo pocket. For plain clothes or off duty I carry a 3 inch Model 13 (usually in a Bucheimer "Concealer") strong side with the nickeled Model 37 weak side. When one of the Glocksters outshoots me at qualification, it might be time to retire.

My only duty is patrol, so arm appropriately!!

Similar grips and barrel length make the change easier.

Don't get me started about when squirrels mob attack the apple trees! :D

Ah, the life of a retiree!!

I have to carry my issued Glock 22 as a duty gun, but my trusty 442 is carried daily as a back up.

My 3913 is my main carry gun, though I'm thinking about trying out the 5906 for a month in that role out of curiosity.

Well, after reading LTMEMORY's post about joining in 1970 I guess it's OK to add mine...

It was 1967...Yes, that's right 1967... (no age jokes please!)
When I joined the force I carried a .357 Highway Patrolman in one of those holsters that swivels so when you get in the cruiser you don't sit on your gun. That was the cool setup back then. It was a nice gun that the dept. armorer took to S&W on one of his trips. While he was there he switched my grips for a nice pair that he hand picked for me. They also fine tuned it for me while he was there.
Later I carried a Combat Magnum (I don't think they had model numbers back then) and finally I got a model 39-2 in the early 70's when they first started carrying autos.
I don't do that any more but I kept that gun until a few years back when I traded it for something lighter... a 908s and a few years later traded that for a CS9.
As you get older the weight means a lot.

Ah, the good old days!

PS. My full equipment load was my gun, my cuffs, 2 extra mags, my nightstick and my call box key... Oh yeh, and my whistle.

A 5943TSW and CS9 as backup, I have changed the grips to cocobolo from the rosewood seen here

Way back in the late 70s. Model 19 four inch and a Model 60 in an ankle holster when on patrol. We couldn't carry speed loaders and had just gotten permission for speed strips in the drop pouch. Two loads of .38 158gr WW +P in the speed strips and .357 158gr in the weapon. We had to carry .38 in the drop pouch in the event we needed to share ammo. Could only have .357 in the weapon (and in a couple of extra speed strips in my front pockets)
