It's Memorial Day in a tourist town.
Good time to stay home and clean up the office.
Which is better for things charging out of stacks of decaying debris, .357 Revolver, .44 Magnum revolver, .308 Rifle, or 20 Bore shotgun with slugs?

Who notes he is a mite behind in his cleaning schedule.

Can't hurt, maybe...

Saw one of these in a front yard today. Very cool. This is on my list for next Memorial Day and very appropriate since most of the soldiers in both flag raisings were subsequently killed on Iwo. Ernie Pyle was killed on a small neighboring island, Ie Shima (sp?) during this battle as well. Medal of Honor recipient John Basilone was also killed on Iwo. Many others were recipients of this medal, most posthumously, after the battle. Horrible battle with much sacrifice of life. I always shed a tear as I read the accounts of this campaign. "Uncommon valor was a common virtue."

Thanks to all who served, and on this Memorial Day, especially to those who gave all. Peace to you all.

Just pretend this is witty.

Minus the obscenity, this is exactly how I greet the Halloween panhandlers as I answer the door in my boxers.
Back when I did special makeup effects for basement budget horror flicks, I did a werewolf makeup and costume for myself. We had a youngster knock at the door. I opened it. He screamed and ran away.
Later that evening at a Halloween party at a local bar. A chick touched my foam latex cheek, recoiled in horror and said, "Oh my God, He's real."

All I can say is that it's been a wonderful day.
To start out we woke up when we woke up, no alarm today. Got dressed, grabbed my video camera and walked a block to the Paw Paw Memorial Day Car Show.
I tried to keep the drool off the cars.
After that, we walked home, got the sling chairs, something to drink, my tripod and walked half a block to set up for the Paw Paw Memorial Day Parade.
I got everything on video and after it's all uploaded, edited and processed, I'll share it with the forum.
After that it was a six mile drive for some physical therapy then back home for a supper of pork chops, rice, brussel sprouts and a bottle of wine with my wife.
All with perfect weather.

It was a beautiful day here in the Constipation State.
Didn't do the brisket, but a nice porterhouse filled the bill.
Some fresh corn and three bean salad.
Enjoyed some of that tasty grapefruit enhanced brew.
Had my daily dose of DRIFT, which I have found very hard to forego. There's only so much time to play, and I seem to
spend an inordinate amount of it here.
Now it's time to bid y'all the sweetest of dream times.
Night-night. God bless.

It's pretty true to form, Lt General Hal Moore had a lot to say in the films making and he made sure their story was told correctly. Of course Hollywood did add some of their usual Hollywoodisms.
I read the book and if I remember correctly it followed the story pretty true to form! ;)
That film is in my top 10 Picture List!

A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales.

The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though a whale is a very large mammal, its throat is very small.

The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.

The teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human, it was impossible.

The little girl said, "When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah".

The teacher asked, "What if Jonah went to hell?"

The little girl replied, "Then you ask him!"
