Hey it's both a diet aid and a tens unit all in one.
Good idea.
I knew I got myself certified in electronics for some reason.

I have a tens unit for my back. While recently shopping for replacement electrode pads, I learned that there are more, um, adventurous uses for these things.

I need to re-wire a transformer to plug into mine, as the 9v batteries get pricey.

Had a good workout at the Y. I've increased the weight on the inclined dumbbell presses a bit. The hard part's getting the weights into position for the press. My gimpy wrist keeps flopping about.
Thankfully, my wife's there to catch it so I don't drop it on my face.
We're home and just finished a nice healthy supper of chicken caesars salad. Minimal sauce.

Our tens unit's pretty cool. It was given to us by a friend of ours originally as a way of activating some of my peripheral muscles that no longer get activated by my motor nerves. Try to keep atrophy at bay.
It charges with a usb port and holds a charge for a very long time.

Flying out of Boston this morning. I asked the nice young lady at check in for a Firearms Declaration card. She asked me if the gun was going in my checked bag or if I was going to carry it on.

???

She may have thought you met the following requirements and wasn't going to presume you didn't:

Flying Armed
To qualify to fly armed, federal regulation states that a law enforcement officer must meet all of the following requirements:

Be a federal law enforcement officer or a full-time municipal, county, state, tribal or territorial law enforcement officer who is a direct government agency employee.
Be sworn and commissioned to enforce criminal or immigration statutes.
Be authorized by the employing agency to have the weapon in connection with assigned duties.
Have completed the TSA Law Enforcement Officer Flying Armed Training Course.
In addition to the above requirements, the officer must present an operational need to have the weapon accessible from the time he or she would otherwise check the weapon, until the time it would be claimed after deplaning. The need to have the weapon accessible aboard the aircraft must be determined by the employing agency and based on one of the following:

Assigned to a protective duty as a principal or advance team, or on travel required to be prepared to engage in a protective function.
Conducting a hazardous surveillance operation.
On official travel with a requirement to report to another location armed and prepared for duty immediately upon landing.
Employed as a federal law Enforcement officer, whether or not on official travel, and armed in accordance with an agency-wide policy.
Escorting an in custody prisoner, or on a round trip ticket returning from escorting or traveling to pick up a prisoner.

After I post this I will reply to an invitation. I will most definitely be at the Father's Day event my sister will be hosting for the family. :)

June 7, 1945, Okinawa, USS Yolo LST (M) 677, per the notes of the Commanding Officer C. Homer Bast Lt. USNR.

June 7, 1945

GQ sounded at 0330. While smoke quickly covered the ships the wind increased. With the wind and the weight of a LST alongside all riding to our anchor, I was uneasy. My fears were unfounded. Both ships rode well all night. At 0400 the GQ was over and all turned in. Rest was not to be for another GQ was soon called. At 0700 the LST departed.

Several of the crew picked up a sinking whaleboat, brought it aboard, and began to restore it. They have promised me a captain's gig. An officer from Boat Pool Baker, the group we brought to Okinawa from Pearl, came on board. We talked at length about the civilians. Before they went ashore and while on board they talked about the problems they might have with the civilians. None have been encountered. The civilians work for us; we feed them, and after a few days they prefer our food to their own. Apparently the Japanese army treated the people of Okinawa badly so they were happy to see us. The morning slipped away and lunch found all hands eating baked ham and sweet potatoes.

Instead of loading today as anticipated a strong wind blew in causing blustery conditions coupled with a high swell. Outside of a few vessels this morning nothing has come alongside. Yolo is truly "out of provisions". Immediately after dinner a movie was shown but between reels the call to GQ came. The word to secure did not come until 2400.

Sometime later we learned that from June 3 - 7th the Japanese released Kikusui IX on the unsuspecting Americans at Okinawa. In this instance 50 kamikazes and far more than an equal number of bombers and fighters, were directed toward that island and the ships defending it. Their attacks packed little power but even so they hit J. William Ditter (DM 31) and Harry F. Bauer (DM 26). The first vessel was scrapped as a result of the damage. Causalities numbered 11 killed and 34 wounded.

Over eleven hours at the hospital yesterday, six and a half of it forced to lie flat on my back and not allowed to raise my head or bend my leg. Tough on an old man with sciatica and no butt padding. It was one of the hardest and most painful things I've had to do in years.

Result, the surgeon catheterized the arteries but was unable to correct the leg problem with stents. The blockages are up in the pelvic area and will requir more invasive surgery. Damn.

Came home to an insanely relieved and ecstatic little dog. Went to bed eventually and slept almost ten hours--a great rarity for me. And this morning, despite severe back and hip pain, I was able to drink coffee! Huzzah! Priorities, and all that. :D

Thanks for all the prayers and encouragement. You folks are great.

Zagged,
Hope you get straightened out with the leg problems.
Might take some more work but sounds like they got
a line on the problem at least.
Best Regards, Chuck

On a seemingly interminable train ride tonight. You Drifters make the 2.5 hour ride bearable and remind me of my obligation to give thanks for the many blessings I have received. To all our brethren who are battling illness or discomfort, please know that my prayers are offered on your behalf. To those who give me cause to chuckle or weep tears of joy, I am very grateful. What a wonderful bunch of people I never had the great privilege to meet!!
