Update from local sources. The LEO involved is presently out of state with his family.
The curfew is in place from midnight till 5:00 am.
So far, a crowd has gathered, but no violence.
Wait for it . . . .

Southcoast, sir would you like to rethink that statement after last nights looting. The only thing that was peaceful was the State Troopers, apparently, took no steps to stop the looters. I also noticed that the C store Brown is accused of stealing from was looted and trashed.
Added comment:
"And the appointment of this black state police captain is disgusting and transparent. A move to mollify the "community", and that *** holding up a picture of the deceased is a disgrace. Wonder how the cops under his command feel about that? He's HUGGING people in the street!"
Captain Hugem, was far from all smiles the the Press conference this afternoon.
I agree with most your post sir. However, the State Patrol/Troopers are fine men I am sure but they should probable stick to just that, Patrolling the highways and byways as they do not generally deal with situations such as this, not to say they cannot but this is a job for CITY/County cops who are TRAINED and do deal with this sort of behavior on a regular and frequent basis. I saw that their walk and hug strategy did not work out too well for them and certainly denying officers protective riot gear is absolute insanity. Then again, the Police aren't calling the plays in Ferguson anymore, it's the agitators and the political types who are and they are risking the lives of the citizens, the officers and Troopers, as well as the businesses they are supposed to be protecting. All this so as not to hurt peoples feelings and " upset " them. Relating to the folks is a wonderful thing and very self gratifying unless they are Perps who need to be arrested, or tear gassed, or struck with rubber bullets, or whatever it takes to regain and maintain the safety of that town and all who live and work there. This video speaks to the "very well trained Police" you speak about in Ferguson. The STATE POLICE have shown the most professionalism, and the militarization needs to stop. They only succeeded to inflame things. The State Police, dressed as they should be, DE ESCALATED the situation. No 911 calls. No arrests. No SWAT boys playing army. No one "went after" any of the Troopers who were not wrapped in Armour.
This is available thru many different networks, before you choose to "shoot the messenger"
I can post links to many many just like this from conservative as well.
Conservative an liberal alike are sick and tired of MRAPS and Guys dressed heavier than troops patrolling in Afghanistan are, cruising the streets of a FREE COUNTRY like this. One troop made that exact point in fact.
This Military type buildup of Police is exactly one of the things our Founding Fathers worried about when they crafted the Second Amendment
They no longer serve and protect.

The folks in my family and neighborhood do not act like the folks we have seen on TV. Whats your point?Put yourself in the place of someone in that community for a second.
All you know is that an unarmed 18 year old kid was shot and killed by the police. This is your neighbor's kid, or it might even be your kid. You've been taught all your life that the police are the enemy. You head out the front door to the funeral home and see something like this.

What do you do? You are scared, confused, angry, etc. This is a sight that I, for one would prefer to see at the Mexican border rather than in one's hometown.
I don't know any more than anyone else about the situation. I wouldn't doubt the shooting to be justified.
I just don't think these images engender a good relationship between a community who's mourning the death of a young man and their police force.

Governor Nixon just issued a curfew. Seems the non-aggression policy failed to contain the unrest.![]()
A riot incited by police action?I note the various posts with criticism about law enforcement showing up in riot gear . . . but . . . but . . . weren't they responding to a riot?
Maybe, maybe not. We have only the cop's word for that.He assaulted a cop, tried to disarm him & got killed doing so.
Yeah, I've got a real reputation as a "pacifist" here, which I've enhanced by calling for store owners to shoot looters who threaten their safety.Ironically, the pacifist posters referring to an "out of control" government & "they should just leave" views astound me. Then I don't see any LE or military service with their screen names....now I get it.
There's a LOT more information left to be disclosed.
As I've said, I'm not interested in getting played, either by the supporters of Brown OR the cops. The DoJ attempts to suppress the robbery video and the Ferguson PD's attempts to suppress on scene reporting don't give me ANY confidence in EITHER.
Ferguson PD was FALSELY arresting journalists on scene for photographing and videoing them. That's both a crime and a civil tort. When you do that, you're either up to no good or plan to be.Ferguson PD is not suppressing anything. If you have a beef with on scene security, your first call is to the Governor and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. They've told Ferguson PD to sit this one out . . .
I don't take the word of EITHER.I'd take the word over a local cop over 1: the thugs homie & 2: the USDOJ/Holder any day of the week. The "kid" was HUGE & allegedly shoved the officer inside the car while trying to disarm him. If the officer was average size, then that is totally plausible.
It doesn't seem all that complicated to me.Help me understand please. When does a demonstration become a riot? At what point is it permissible for police to show up in riot gear?
There is alovideo too as reported this morniing on Fox. They showed a still of the guy about to have a confrontation with a store cerk who was confronting him about his theft of about $50 of Swisher Sweets cigars. They said a complete vidoe will be released sometime today.
