WAR DECLARED in Israel

Earlier today:

Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir announced on Sunday he has ordered officials responsible for issuing gun licenses to broaden its standards. As the death toll inflicted by terror group Hamas grew to over 600, Ben-Gvir said he wants more Israelis to be able to legally arm themselves.

“Today I directed the Firearms Licensing Division to go on an emergency operation in order to allow as many citizens as possible to arm themselves,” he posted, according to a Google translation. “The plan will take effect within 24 hours.”

That's what I would like to know. For example, how does hamas get its funding? That is a thread I'm sure some don't want pulled.

It always cracks me up when somebody asks "where do they get their funding" in regard to most terrorist organizations. Most are "funded" by a nation state giving them stuff that goes bang to use against a common foe. It's called war by proxy. There's no accounts, no paper trail, and rarely does money ever change hands. Screw up on any of the above "nos" and you end up having to make a bulk buy of shredders and hire a bunch of cute interns to run them, no questions asked.

Motive and probability place Iran in the top 3 of the so described, and they are a nuclear power through a proxy development program.....
We, as a species, obviously do not choose the smartest among us as our leaders

Yep. Trying to avoid crossing into banned topics. We all know a likely source.

A matter of record.

Since 2021 the US has sent 100’s of millions of dollars in “aid to the Palestinian people”.

Who knows where this money went.
Baby Formula.
Diapers.
Food for the needy.
Clothing/shoes.
Tents and other shelter for the homeless.
Medical treatment.
Ammo.
RPGs.
Explosives.
Missiles.
Mortar rounds.
Drones.
Paragliders.

You know- the necessities of life. What else would they spend it on?:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

This has the potential to get Really Ugly, and start a fight that few if any want. The U.S. Navy has a carrier group steaming to that general location. Rumors from Fort Brag are that the 82 second Airborne, Rangers, Special Forces are all checking and rechecking their Combat loads, along with singing required paper work for troopers headed into a War zone. May I suggest that everyone of us Pray for peace, before this gets out of hand.

Let's all pray that some sort of sanity takes over

Indeed. This war has as its predicate tue very real potential of Saudi normalizing relations with Israel, which is anathema to Iran, a Russian client.Iran funds Hamas, Russia supports Iran with weapons, tech, and other stuff.

I can't wait until we no longer care about Middle Eastern or Russian oil.

I think the IDF will do whatever is necessary to protect Israel as a state. They are an island in the wilderness and will survive at all cost. Anybody remember the Six-Day War? In the end, Palestine may cease to exist.

You mean like it was January 20, 2017 to January 20, 2021?

I was in Iraq for a good deal of that time - we were rocketed by Iranian clients (Al Sadr's folks) with regularity before and after the Soliemani killing and in fact we (the US) abandoned both the $300 million new Basra Consulate and separately turned over a US base in Syria to the Russians. Don't believe that was a period of peace and stability.

Intelligence failure/incompetence or intentional.

To me, the whole situation stinks.

We are being told to believe that the finest intelligence organization in the world had no clue about giant coordinated attack involving hundreds if not thousands of people in planning, logistics, financing, and carrying out the attacks all over the country!

Obviously, this attack didn't happen spontaneously! I find it tough to believe that nobody knew anything,

We're being told that the air defense system was offline. Offline or tuned off intentionally?

I feel bad for all the folks who died and had their lives destroyed.

What I find remarkable, is with this constant level of danger faced by the Israeli population, private firearm ownership is quite restrictive. There was a YouTube video a few years ago talking about same. I'll see if I can find it. Given the IDF's failure to protect these borders and settlements, at least their civilians should be allowed the opportunity to defend themselves.

The Realities of Gun Ownership in Israel - YouTube

According to today's news the restrictions on civilian ownership of guns and ammo in Israel have just about gone away. It seems the government has seen the error of it's rules.
