Over eleven hours at the hospital yesterday, six and a half of it forced to lie flat on my back and not allowed to raise my head or bend my leg. Tough on an old man with sciatica and no butt padding. It was one of the hardest and most painful things I've had to do in years.

Result, the surgeon catheterized the arteries but was unable to correct the leg problem with stents. The blockages are up in the pelvic area and will requir more invasive surgery. Damn.

Came home to an insanely relieved and ecstatic little dog. Went to bed eventually and slept almost ten hours--a great rarity for me. And this morning, despite severe back and hip pain, I was able to drink coffee! Huzzah! Priorities, and all that. :D

Thanks for all the prayers and encouragement. You folks are great.

"Mr. Williams, I'm with the National Register of Historic Places, and we have found that both your home here in New Hampshire and your summer residence in South Georgia qualify as historic."

"You mean...?"

"That's right, Mr. Williams. A plaque on both your houses."

(Sorry. The devil made me do it.)

kwselke,,,,I just noticed this article. A good dog is an amazing creature. Last known 9/11 search dog euthanized in Houston area - Houston Chronicle The article speaks for itself. If I were a betting man, I'd bet our fellow Drifter vonn lives in the C

I'm having a beer, therefore it is Beer Time!

I've had it before, and the fact that I'm having it again means I like it. From Salt Lake City, Utah it is Wastach Brewing's Devastator Dopplebock. Dark and malty, smooth creaminess of a lager. A fine example of a double Bock. This stuff is good!

Cheers!

A massive yellowjacket/hornet thing decided to chew through a screen today, being a fatal mistake around my menagerie.

Kona cat followed his dad, who was armed with a souped-up electronic fly swatter now sporting 2.5x the original voltage.

He knocked that thing out of the air with a jump and a swipe, and his dad pounced and pounded it into paste.

Staniel Day-Lewis was uninterested in the ongoings, preferring to guard his energy reserves for the next emu attack.
